Job summary

McLane Company, Inc. seeks a Buyer at our Temple, TX location to manage internal goods purchasing for the Indirect Procurement team.

You will plan purchasing activities, evaluate suppliers, obtain quotes, and negotiate to secure cost-effective, reliable sources while ensuring quality.

This role requires a Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years buying experience, with limited travel possible and a focus on cost efficiency.

• Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of buying experience.
• Strong math and analytical skills required.
• MS Office knowledge required.
• Strong communication skills; well organized and detail oriented.
• Flexible and agile team player; office environment; limited travel.

Responsibilities

• Plans and implements purchasing activities for internal goods and services.
• Compiles and analyzes data to determine feasibility and price objectives.
• Qualifies vendors, obtains quotes, examines bids and makes awards.
• Follows up on all awards through completion of order.
• Responsible for over-shipments, rejections, and return of materials.
• Negotiates with suppliers to achieve low cost with quality and reliability.
• Reviews proposals, negotiates prices, and maintains records.
• Prepares RFPs and bid packages.
• Negotiates settlements for damages, losses, etc.
• Performs post-reward analytics to measure demand.
• Performs special analysis and other duties as assigned.
