Job summary

The Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County in Houston seeks a Management & Budget Analyst for Safety, Security & Facilities. You will conduct budget planning, monitor operating and capital expenditures, and prepare financial analyses for senior leadership.

This role requires at least five years of budget/financial experience in transit or public sector, strong Excel skills, and the ability to produce clear management reports and KPI metrics.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in budget/management/financial/operational analysis in a transit or financial operating environment.
• Experience with analytical tools; spreadsheet, Pivot tables, graphics, database packages and simulation analysis preferred.
• Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Develops, analyzes, and prepares the annual operating budget.
• Analyzes and updates monthly capital status report; works with Safety & Security, Public Facilities and/or Facilities Maintenance Directors to monitor and update each ongoing capital project activity.
• Prepares Journal Entries for Month End and Year End Closing.
• Submits department budget reports with financial analyses of each Fund Center, G/L Account, and recommendation for financial impact issues.
• Develops and generates management reports for review by Management; identifies areas of concern/trends to improve efficiencies and effectiveness.
• Provides excellent customer service to METRO internal and external customers.
