Job summary

Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County in Houston is seeking a senior system safety engineer to lead safety analyses and support the Safety Department in implementing the Safety Management System (SMS) in accordance with FTA and TXDOT guidelines.

You will develop and review PHAs, HAs, VMs, and related safety documentation, audit safety processes, and collaborate with stakeholders to promote safety, quality, and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering or related technical field is required.
• Eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in systems analysis for highly reliable or safety-critical activities; include three (3) years implementing and enforcing System Safety/SMS.
• State of Texas Professional Engineer license is preferred; CSP/WSO…/PMP preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides system safety engineering expertise and support for METRO operations and projects requiring Safety Department review or approval.
• Assists with development and implementation of SMS to reduce or eliminate risks.
• Develops and reviews PHAs, HAs, VMs and supporting documentation (FMEA, FMECA, Bowtie, FTA) for approval.
