Job summary

UMass Boston is seeking a Budget and Reporting Analyst to support the University’s financial management, annual operating budget design, and multi-year revenue and expense forecasting. You will analyze financial data, prepare concise management reports, and serve as a subject matter expert in performance and financial management.

The role involves presenting analyses to senior administrators, partnering with finance staff, and promoting transparency and accountability in resource allocation

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics or a closely related field
• This is an entry level position at the University. Experience in a large organization, public agency, non-profit organization, or higher education institution preferred.

Responsibilities

• Partner with managers and finance staff in assigned areas to determine resource use and report expense variances.
• Support Senior Budget Systems & Reporting Analyst: Budget Errors, Project setup, BuyWays (procurement system), Payroll management & EPAF approvals.
• Participate in the annual operating budget process, linking funding to goals and financial metrics.
• Determine financial consequences of policy changes affecting University finances and resources.
• Develop and present analysis with colleagues and senior leadership.
• Recommend enhancements to planning and resource allocation processes for transparency and accountability.
• Provide guidance and training to area financial staff on financial and performance activities.
• Design and deliver presentations to educate stakeholders on financial issues and opportunities.
• Synthesize analyses into actionable recommendations with solid evidence.
• Assist in development of financial management reports for decision making.
• Respond to information requests and generate management reports for campus managers.
