Job summary

Caltech in Pasadena, CA seeks a highly motivated Budget Director to lead budget planning, forecasting, and analysis for operating and capital budgets. Reporting to the CFO & Treasurer, you will supervise a small team and provide strategic financial guidance across the Institute.

You will develop complex revenue models, oversee salary and benefits budgeting, collaborate with senior leadership, and present budget materials to the Board of Trustees.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or related field required.
• 10 years’ experience in financial analysis, budgeting and reporting.
• Three years’ fund accounting experience required.
• Advanced knowledge of business and accounting principles; strong Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Directs development and administration of annual and long-range budgets.
• Prepares operating budgets for various fund sources (General, Gifts, Endowment).
• Develops revenue models including endowment payout and tuition/fees.
• Oversees salary and benefits budgeting and cost of attendance.
• Oversees capital budget and funding allocations; coordinates with Provost and Facilities.
• Communicates complex financial data to senior management and board.
