Job summary

Pittsburgh Public Schools is seeking a Budget Analyst to assist with the financial management of the District's General Fund and supplemental-funded budgets. The role involves budget development, analysis, reporting, and ensuring compliance across sites and programs.

Responsibilities include reviewing payments, managing cash flow, and assisting with audits and federal expenditures. Strong communication and analytical skills are required.

Qualifications

• Relevant experience preferred.
• Ability to utilize Microsoft Office and other business-related software.
• Munis experience preferred.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Outstanding analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to work productively with external auditors and vendors.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with schools and other departments.

Responsibilities

• Assist with development and analysis of budgets for general fund, site-based, special education, and other supplemental programs.
• Review payments and requisitions.
• Prepare financial reports and manage cash flow.
• Prepare and review budget transfers.
• Monitor position control and maintain records in Munis.
• Manage time and effort reporting for Federally-funded employees.
• Assist with the District's financial responsibilities with Charter Schools/Annual Charter School applications and reviews.
• Conduct budget training for school-based and program staff.
• Assist with the preparation of the Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards for the annual Single Audit of the School District.
• Perform continuous research and data entry in Munis.
• Respond to inquiries from Principals and Program Managers by providing information and assistance before and during the operation of programs.
• All other duties as assigned.
