Alfred Benesch & Company is seeking a Communications Director to lead our company-wide strategy across internal and external channels. This role focuses on shaping the firm’s voice, messaging, and brand while advising executive leadership and directing a talented communications team.

The ideal candidate translates complex technical topics into clear narratives, guiding digital strategy, thought leadership, and media engagement to strengthen our impact in the AEC industry.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of progressive experience in corporate communications, public relations, or marketing communications.
• Exceptional writing, editing, storytelling, and content development skills.
• Experience advising executive leadership and senior business leaders on strategic communications.
• Proven ability to lead and develop communications professionals and coordinate external partners.
• Strong understanding of brand strategy, reputation management, and integrated marketing communications.
• Experience managing corporate websites, digital channels, and content strategy.
• Ability to translate complex topics into clear, compelling communications.
• Strong presentation and facilitation skills for executive audiences.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead an integrated, company-wide communications strategy aligned with business goals and brand.
• Strengthen Benesch's reputation and market position within the AEC industry and communities served.
• Serve as strategic communications advisor to executives and leaders across the organization.
• Oversee brand stewardship and ensure consistent voice and messaging across all channels.
• Lead the strategy and development of the website, digital channels, and social media presence.
• Drive thought leadership content highlighting the firm's expertise and industry voice.
• Manage internal communications and align employee understanding with strategy and initiatives.
• Collaborate with leaders on communications for organizational changes and employee programs.
