Job summary

YMCA of the USA is seeking an Executive Director to lead a branch's total operations, including membership, programs, facilities and staff development. The role provides mentorship to the leadership team and drives accountability, innovation, and excellence to achieve strategic business objectives.

The Executive Director oversees financial development, community collaborations, and high-quality program delivery while maintaining a strong focus on equity, inclusion, and safeguarding.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in human services, social services, business or equivalent.
• Five or more years of management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit.
• Ability to lead total operations through volunteer development, supervision of staff, budget development and program development.
• Experience in management and development of volunteer involvement; ability to recruit top community leaders.
• Ability to supervise, communicate and collaborate in a matrix management environment.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups in the community.
• Proven track record of developing authentic relationships.
• Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.

Responsibilities

• Represents and promotes the YMCA as a transformational leader in the local community.
• Develops collaborative relationships with community agencies and residents to ensure equity and community voice.
• Coordinates the development of the branch board and committees; directs volunteer activities.
• Directs financial development activities and cultivates donors to support the Y's programs.
• Oversees hiring, training, development, coaching and supervision of staff and fosters a learning culture.
• Develops and monitors the branch operating budget and meets budget targets.
• Directs branch strategic planning and annual operating plan.
• Develops member engagement strategies and models relation­ship-building in interactions.
• Ensures abuse risk management and mandated reporting; communicates commitment to protection.
• Serves as a member of Y leadership team and supports YMCA objectives.
