Job summary

Avnet seeks a Business Information Security Officer (BISO) to bridge enterprise cybersecurity governance with diverse business units. This embedded security leadership translates policy, risk posture, and priorities into actionable guidance that supports decisions, revenue growth, and risk reduction.

The role requires executive presence, risk translation skills, and the ability to drive remediation across decentralized environments, aligning security with business needs and customer trust.

Qualifications

• Ability to converse fluently with senior business leaders, including BU Presidents.
• Translate technical concepts into clear, business-relevant insights.
• Capable of influencing without relying on authority, using credibility and trust.
• Strong understanding of cybersecurity frameworks, governance and risk management.
• Experience supporting compliance programs and audit processes.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary contact for each business unit’s security needs.
• Consolidate, triage, and prioritize security requests, projects, and issues.
• Provide governance visibility into security posture and upcoming obligations.
• Translate risk into business impact language for executives.
• Develop remediation plans and risk acceptances for vulnerabilities and audits.
• Support security as a competitive differentiator in revenue-focused activities.
