Job summary

AbbVie in North Chicago, IL is seeking an experienced Oncology BD&A Director to lead strategic transactions, including in-licensing, out-licensing, co-development and co-promotion. You will develop analytical assessments, present findings to senior management and drive negotiations with internal and external partners.

The role requires 10+ years in pharma/biotech, strong financial acumen, and excellent communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree Required in Business, Science or relevant discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in pharmaceutical/biotech industry.
• Licensing and acquisitions deal sheet with negotiating and closing deals.
• International or cross-border experience is a plus.
• Strong grasp of pharmaceutical drug discovery, development, and commercialization.
• Clear understanding of financial analysis and corporate finance from reading financial statements.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with experience leading cross-functional teams.
• Director leveling commensurate with experience.
• Role requires domestic and international travel (~20%).
• At minimum three days onsite in North Chicago, IL offices.

Responsibilities

• Supports achievement of BD&A objectives and growth strategies.
• Partner with teams to identify and advance opportunities.
• Conduct due diligence and financial diligence on prioritized opportunities.
• Present business components to governance bodies with executive presence.
• Lead deal negotiations with internal and partner teams.
• Represent BD&A in planning processes and strategic projects.
• Attend external partnering meetings to build AbbVie’s partnerships.
• Monitor industry and transaction trends.
