Job summary

ASM Research, An Accenture Federal Services Company, seeks a Backup and Recovery Specialist, Mid, to design, implement, and optimize enterprise backup across hybrid data centers and cloud environments, aligning with continuity objectives.

You will craft policies, storage architectures, and recovery workflows; troubleshoot failed jobs and complex restores; mentor junior staff; and deliver dashboards to leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 4–7 years of experience in data backup and recovery, storage engineering, or related IT roles.
• Proficient understanding of backup/recovery for physical, virtual, and cloud workloads.
• Hands-on experience with enterprise backup tools (Veritas NetBackup, Veeam, CommVault).
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills; ability to resolve complex issues independently.
• Experience with monitoring tools and documenting backup configurations and runbooks.

Responsibilities

• Architect and maintain backup solutions for physical, virtual, and cloud workloads, including policy design and capacity planning.
• Analyze backup infrastructure performance and tune concurrency, bandwidth, and storage tiers to meet RTO/RPO targets.
• Perform complex restore operations (DB point-in-time, granular restores, DR drills).
• Implement and maintain backup encryption, key management, and RBAC.
• Document and test disaster recovery runbooks and coordinate drills with teams.
• Integrate backup systems with monitoring/reporting for dashboards and compliance metrics.
• Troubleshoot failures and bottlenecks; drive root-cause analysis and remediation.
• Mentor junior staff on data protection best practices and documentation.
