Job summary

Michigan State University seeks an AVP for Research Infrastructure/Capacity Building to lead a portfolio of shared research resources, including RTSF and the Bioeconomy Institute. The role partners with colleges, centers, and industry to invest in people, infrastructure, and strategic capabilities that elevate MSU’s research mission.

The AVPR will drive governance, performance metrics, and cross-campus initiatives while expanding regional collaborations and translational opportunities.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree with a sustained federal funding record.
• Experience leading shared research infrastructure and capital planning.
• Proven ability to build cross-unit collaborations and governance.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for MSU's shared research infrastructure portfolio.
• Oversee core facilities and coordinate across MSU's SRRs and campuses.
• Drive capacity-building initiatives and secure major external funding.
• Lead Midland regional research operations and regional partnerships.
• Advance bioeconomy initiatives and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
