Job summary

Smithfield Foods is seeking a Strategic Project Manager to lead automation initiatives in the pork industry. This remote role requires residing within 60 miles of a designated location and occasional travel to facilities.

You will design and implement automation projects, coordinate with partners, manage budgets, review bids, and guide vendors. Strong leadership, PM skills, and knowledge of engineering standards are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Engineering, or related field.
• 2+ years' experience in a leadership role including team development and management.
• Ability to apply sound engineering principles to operational and design issues.
• Knowledge of installation and construction project scheduling.
• Must possess Project Management and Contract Administration skills; interpret national codes.

Responsibilities

• Design preliminary engineering and material specifications, and prepare cost estimates.
• Coordinate with equipment vendors to plan layouts and maintain installation schedules.
• Conduct pre-project studies, feasibility analyses, and prepare proposals and reports.
• Review bids, ensure compliance, and monitor budgets and progress.
• Lead and coach teams to ensure effective project delivery and continuous improvement.
