Job summary

Smithfield Foods, Inc. seeks a Strategic Project Manager to lead automation initiatives across multiple plants in the US. You will design, cost, and manage projects, coordinating with teams, vendors, and contractors to translate automation needs into practical solutions.

The role requires engineering fundamentals, project management skills, and experience with scheduling, contracts, and budgeting. Travel may be required, and relocation could be offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field with 5+ years of relevant experience.
• 2+ years in a leadership role, including team development and management.
• Ability to apply sound engineering principles to operational and design issues.
• Knowledge of installation/construction project scheduling and coding standards.
• Proficient in engineering economics and contract administration.

Responsibilities

• Design and manage engineering projects, including preliminary designs and cost estimates.
• Coordinate schedules with plant personnel, vendors, and contractors.
• Review bids, prepare project documents, and monitor budgets and scope.
• Provide direction to vendors, ensure documentation clarity, and manage project execution.
