This role will establish and scale AI capabilities across a portfolio of companies, helping teams leverage emerging technologies to drive value creation across product development, engineering, sales, and customer operations. Projects may include building AI-enabled products and features, developing agentic workflows to improve engineering productivity, implementing AI-powered sales enablement tools, and creating solutions that streamline customer onboarding and support. The Forward-Deployed Engineer will work closely with C-level executives and their teams to identify opportunities, develop and implement solutions, and build lasting internal AI capabilities that enable each organization to independently design, launch, and scale AI-enabled products and workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with executive, technical, and functional stakeholders to identify, evaluate, and prioritize high-value opportunities for applying AI across the organization.
- Architect, develop, and launch AI-powered products, intelligent agents, and automated workflows designed to enhance business processes across product development, sales, finance, customer experience, and operations.
- Convert ambiguous business needs and complex challenges into scalable technical solutions, leading initiatives from ideation and rapid prototyping through production implementation.
- Connect AI capabilities with existing enterprise technology ecosystems, including CRM and ERP applications, data warehouses, APIs, and legacy or distributed data environments.
- Assess the AI and data readiness of potential initiatives, defining technical architecture, data requirements, integration needs, and implementation strategies.
- Lead the rollout and adoption of AI solutions by developing training materials, documentation, enablement programs, and change-management practices in collaboration with business and technology teams.
- Establish reusable architectures, development frameworks, playbooks, tools, and standards that improve the speed, quality, and consistency of future AI implementations.
- Serve as a strategic technical advisor to senior leadership on AI opportunities, technology choices, implementation approaches, emerging capabilities, and associated risks and tradeoffs.
- Mentor and coach engineers, technical teams, and business leaders, helping build the internal capabilities required to develop, deploy, manage, and scale AI solutions independently.
- Continuously monitor advancements in AI and related technologies, evaluating emerging capabilities and identifying practical applications that can address meaningful business needs.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering, AI engineering, technical architecture, or a comparable technical discipline, with a proven track record of delivering production-ready solutions.
- Practical experience with modern AI technologies, including large language model APIs, AI agents, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), automation platforms, and contemporary AI development frameworks.
- Demonstrated success delivering new products, platforms, or technical capabilities from initial concept through production, including experience with 0-to-1 development initiatives.
- Strong background in integrating enterprise applications, APIs, data platforms, and complex, distributed, or fragmented data ecosystems.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to rapidly learn unfamiliar technologies, business processes, systems, and data structures.
- Ability to move quickly while maintaining appropriate standards for scalability, reliability, security, and production readiness.
- Strong commercial understanding and executive communication skills, with the ability to advise senior stakeholders, challenge conventional assumptions, and explain complex technical concepts in business-oriented language.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, prioritize competing initiatives, and deliver outcomes within ambiguous, rapidly evolving environments.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to build consensus and influence both technical and non-technical teams without direct authority.
