Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) seeks a Forward Deployed Engineer to embed within strategic enterprise customers, designing, building and running AI-powered production systems alongside their engineering teams. You will own outcomes end-to-end from prototype to enterprise-scale deployment, writing production-grade software, creating scalable architectures, and accelerating AI adoption across customer workflows.

The role balances hands-on software development with leadership responsibilities, mentoring

Qualifications

5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience.
5+ years of leading design or architecture of new and existing systems.
Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team.
Experience communicating technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior stakeholders.
Experience leading agentic and spec-driven development at production scale (AI agents a plus).
Experience with AI tools: eval frameworks, agent tooling, RAG pipelines, and prompt engineering.

Responsibilities

Embed within customer engineering teams and translate business problems into scalable AI-enabled production systems.
Build production AI applications powering AI and agentic workflows with integration to data sources and APIs.
Own production from design through rollout and operationalization with monitoring and guardrails.
Accelerate customer transformation by codifying reusable patterns and reference architectures.
Mentor engineers and contribute to AWS AI engineering best practices.
