Job summary

The American Arbitration Association is seeking an experienced Accounting Director to lead general accounting, payroll, assets, and controls under U.S. GAAP.

The role focuses on modernizing processes with automation and AI, while guiding teams to deliver timely, accurate financial information and ensure fiscal integrity. You will supervise accounting staff, manage external and internal audits, and partner with Finance, HR, and IT to streamline workflows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required.
• 7–9 years progressive accounting experience in both public and industry.
• 3–5 years of supervisory or leadership experience.
• Advanced knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal control frameworks.
• Proficiency in Excel and ERP systems; experience with payroll and tax compliance.
• Familiarity with digital transformation tools, automation and AI-driven tech.

Responsibilities

• Direct accounting operations including general ledger, payroll, assets, and reporting.
• Lead month-end close processes and improve accuracy and timelines.
• Administer internal controls and ensure tax compliance and standards.
• Supervise accounting teams, mentoring and development.
• Oversee audits and manage related documentation.
• Drive process improvements and digital transformation in accounting.
