Job summary

The Tech Interactive in San Jose seeks a Storytelling and Community Research Intern for the Fall semester. This part-time, on-site internship focuses on qualitative research, oral history, and archival exploration to develop an inclusive earthquake-storytelling exhibit.

You will collect first-person narratives, review secondary sources, and help translate research into accessible exhibit content. Gain hands-on experience with sociological research methods and public-facing exhibit development

Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in college or university.
  • Strong listening, writing, and research skills.
  • Interest in community storytelling, museums, public history, or disaster studies.
  • Spanish or Vietnamese language skills welcome.

Responsibilities

  • Support initial design and prototyping of digital, game-based exhibits.
  • Collaborate with exhibit team on conceptualizing digital, game-based interactives.
  • Create low to high fidelity prototypes to support testing of gameplay and mechanics.
  • Assist with visitor prototyping to evaluate engagement, accessibility, and learning outcomes.
  • Document design process to inform final exhibit design.
