Job summary

SOCOTEC is seeking two Geotechnical Engineering Summer 2027 Interns in San Jose or Alameda, CA (San Jose preferred). You will work alongside geotechnical staff engineers performing geotechnical field evaluations, subsurface investigations, and construction observation.

Applicants must be currently enrolled in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering; juniors/seniors; have completed soil mechanics or foundation courses; able to lift up to 50 pounds; valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Current enrollment in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering Bachelor's or Master's degree program required
• Junior or Senior Year status required, if an undergraduate
• Completion of technical electives or Master's-level courses related to soil mechanics, engineering geology, or foundation engineering required
• Ability to interpret and apply technical information
• Able to perform a wide range of physical activities including lifting up to 50 pounds of equipment on occasion
• Valid driver's license with good driving record is required

Responsibilities

• Assist geotechnical subsurface evaluations and geotechnical calculations
• Perform construction phase observation and reporting
• Assist in our in-house laboratory and assist Principal engineers with project tasks
