Job summary

University of Minnesota’s St. Anthony Falls Laboratory (SAFL) seeks a post‑graduate research assistant for a stormwater research group.

The role focuses on capture and release of pollutants from stormwater ponds, biofiltration media, and iron enhanced sand filters, with duties spanning indoor lab work, outdoor field work, and data analysis. The position is part-time (maximum 14 hours/week) and involves lifting of equipment, travel to field sites, and protocol development.

Qualifications

• Completion of a bachelor's degree with a science and/or engineering background including water resources, environmental, chemistry, etc.

Responsibilities

• Indoor laboratory experiments including experiment setup and analysis; wet chemistry sample analysis.
• Outdoor field experiments including travel, equipment setup, deployment, and retrieval.
• Laboratory and field data collection, recording, and protocol development; other duties as needed.
• Lifting and carrying equipment and samples, including canoes/kayaks and 5-gallon water buckets (~46 lbs/22 kg).
