Job summary

Pinellas County Public Works is seeking a Stormwater Gradall Operator (Stormwater Lead Journeyman) in Clearwater, FL. The role includes leading field crews, operating Gradall and related heavy equipment, and ensuring drainage maintenance aligns with FDOT standards and environmental regulations.

The ideal candidate will have 3+ years in public works or utilities with heavy equipment operation and at least 1 year in drainage maintenance, plus required licenses and OSHA/TRAFFIC qualifications.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of experience in public works, utilities, or general construction with heavy equipment operation and lead worker or supervisory experience.
• At least one (1) year of drainage maintenance experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Responsibilities

• Supervise crews and equipment engaged in drainage construction, maintenance, traffic safety, and repair work.
• Perform maintenance and repair of stormwater drainage systems.
• Ensure safety standards and FDOT/locating requirements are met; coordinate with utility companies.
• Update work orders, labor hours, equipment usage, materials, and resources in the management system.
• Provide on-the-job training on equipment operation and BMPs to staff.
• Schedule and assign work, track progress, and adjust timelines as needed.
• Communicate with the public and coordinate with other departments.
