Job summary

Columbus Consolidated Government is seeking a field technician to assist with the installation and operation of a remote TV camera system in storm sewer pipes and related stormwater infrastructure tasks.

The role includes collecting samples, assisting with camera positioning, driving support vehicles, and performing basic equipment maintenance. Strong reading, reporting, math, and communication skills are required.

Qualifications

Must read and interpret safety rules and maintenance instructions.
Ability to write routine reports and keep records.
Strong basic math skills for measurements and unit conversions.
Problem solving and decision-making abilities.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

Assists with installation and operation of remote TV camera system in storm sewer pipes.
Collects stormwater and surface water samples and performs analytical tests.
Assists in setting up cable stands over manholes and positions the camera in the sewer line.
Drives a pickup truck to haul crew and equipment.
Occasionally services and makes minor repairs to camera, equipment, and attachments.
Assists in inspection of stormwater BMPs and HVPS.
Participates in creek walks.
Contributes to continuous improvement of operations and customer-driven service.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
