Job summary

City of Asheville seeks a Crew Supervisor in the Public Works Department, Stormwater Division, to lead a team responsible for construction, maintenance, and repairs for city projects. Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Three years of related experience in construction trades (paving, roadways, sidewalks, ditches, utility or drainage installation) including lead/supervisory experience (2 years preferred).
• Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Supervises, directs, and evaluates staff; plans, directs, and reviews work; handles employee concerns and performance appraisals.
• Organizes, prioritizes, and assigns work; ensures adequate coverage and resources; maintains SOP manuals.
• Estimates job costs and materials; ensures availability of parts and equipment; requests replacements as needed.
• Conducts on-site reviews; enforces safety, quality, and regulatory compliance; monitors work environment.
• Operates and oversees machinery and tools; ensures proper use, safety, and efficiency.
• Responds to emergencies; participates in on-call rotation; coordinates emergency work crews.
• Communicates with supervisor, staff, contractors, and public to coordinate activities and resolve issues.
• Processes departmental documentation and reporting; maintains records and data entry.
