Job summary

Pinellas County seeks a Stormwater Heavy Equipment Operator to join Public Works as Crew Chief 3. Location: 22211 US Highway 19, Clearwater, FL. Work schedule: Mon-Thu 7:00–5:30 or Tue-Fri 7:00–5:30.

Lead a crew in installing, maintaining, inspecting, and repairing stormwater drainage systems, operating Gradall, Spider, and Long-arm equipment in the field. You will ensure safety and environmental compliance, supervise staff, coordinate utility work, and respond during emergencies.

Qualifications

• Three years in public works or related field with lead/supervisory experience.
• Equivalent education, training or experience accepted.
• Ability to work varied schedules including emergency/disaster periods.
• Possession of required safety certifications as listed.

Responsibilities

• Lead crews and supervise drainage construction, maintenance and repair.
• Operate major equipment and manage safety on job sites.
• Coordinate with utility companies and 811 locates.
• Schedule work orders and track hours, materials, and progress.
• Provide on‑the‑job training for equipment and BMPs.
• Respond to emergencies and assist during storms/disasters.
