The Position

The current vacancy is with the Bureau of Transportation. This recruitment may be used to fill future vacancies in other bureaus throughout the City.

Job Appointment: Regular Fulltime

Work Schedule: Flexible Schedule; Eight/Nine/Ten-hour shifts Monday - Friday

The City of Portland is seeking a Materials Specialist II (Storekeeper/Acquisition Specialist II-CL) to join the Portland Bureau of Transportation!

About the position: The Materials Specialist II (Storekeeper/Acquisition Specialist II - CL) supports managing materials, including purchasing, receiving, storing, and disbursing goods and services, working in yard areas and indoor storage facilities, and maintaining control of bureau assets following inventory principles. May work independently or at an unsupervised location.

What You’ll Get To Do

  1. Advise and ensure adherence to purchasing procedures/regulations to bureau staff.
  2. Requisition and purchase supplies, equipment, and services up to delegated limits. Receive, stock, issue, disburse, ship, and dispose of materials, coordinating with staff, end users, and vendors; ensure compliance with technical specifications and communicate handling/storage requirements.
  3. Reconcile procurement card statements; prepare invoices for payment and may maintain petty cash.
  4. Create and maintain computer records and perform assigned tasks while maintaining a safe, orderly, and clean environment.
  5. Serve as a technical resource, respond to calls during emergencies, and be trained as part of the City’s Emergency Management Structure for Logistics.
  6. Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, overhead cranes, and other equipment, including large articulated front-end loaders.
