Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2-3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments in other store areas (meat, bakery, produce, deli) and customer service experience are helpful.
• Clear and precise direction to team members.
• Ability to resolve conflict by addressing root causes.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Ability to analyze financial and statistical information to inform decisions.
• Ability to teach suggestive selling.
• Ability to mentor team members across SDITs, hourly staff, and team leaders.
• Successful completion of required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Ensure a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and team members.
• Responsible for staffing, selection and hiring to meet staffing needs.
• Promotes succession planning by providing career paths and development needs for team members, involved in promotions decisions.
• Documents and applies disciplinary actions and makes discharge recommendations.
• Responsible for P&L, achieving sales and maintaining shrink for the department.
• Models exceptional, fast and friendly customer service.
• Communicates the Meijer Friendly Initiative in meetings and conversations.
• Mentors and coaches the team to exceed sales goals and maintain Meijer standards.
• Ensures the team is thoroughly trained in all aspects of their jobs and completed required training.
• Spends majority of time in-store communicating with customers and team members.
• Promotes a safe work environment and reliable attendance.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
