Job summary

Family Dollar is seeking a Manager- Store Safety for full-time, onsite employment at the Chesapeake Store Support Center. The role focuses on developing and implementing comprehensive regulatory compliance policies to foster a culture of safety and adherence in all stores, with data analysis to ensure effective programs.

The candidate will lead a team including remote and SSC associates, monitor OSHA and local regulations, and update policies to reflect current and future risks.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years in Safety, Regulatory Compliance, Environmental Health.
• Bachelor’s Degree (BA) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Drive changes to foster a safety-first culture across all stores.
• Develop policies, procedures and a comprehensive implementation strategy for identified standards.
• Assist in developing and implementing a comprehensive reporting and investigation procedure for store compliance.
• Provide periodic reporting to store operations to improve compliance culture and awareness.
• Manage a team that includes remote and SSC associates and ensure safety/compliance alignment across the Company.
• Monitor regulatory updates (e.g., OSHA, local weights & measures) and update programs accordingly.
• Assist with special projects affecting the Company’s safety and health programs and compliance function.

This position is for full-time, onsite employment at the Family Dollar Chesapeake Store Support Center.

The Manager- Store Safety, works to develop and implement comprehensive regulatory compliance policies and procedures for Family Dollar retail stores. This role also focuses on driving the changes necessary to develop a culture of safety and compliance in all stores. The role also identifies and analyzes data and trends in order to ensure the Company’s safety and compliance programs are comprehensive and effective.

• Drive the changes necessary to develop a culture of safety and compliance in all stores.
• Develop policies, procedures and a comprehensive implementation strategy for all identified standards that impact store operations.
• Assist in the development and implementation of a comprehensive reporting and investigation procedure for store compliance.
• Provide periodic reporting to store operations to improve compliance culture and increase awareness.
• Manage and leverage current field structure to support store operations in maintaining a safety-first culture, as well as compliance with applicable standards. Improve communication regarding trends and opportunities for a consistent message across the Company regarding compliance areas.
• Review and update all applicable position information (job descriptions, task lists, audit forms, and weekly updates) to include all components related to current and future risks.
• Develop regulatory compliance support structure.
• Monitor regulatory updates from agencies that directly impact store operations (e.g., Occupational Safety and Health Administration) and local weights and measure agencies.
• Analyze regulatory changes and contribute to strategies to update applicable programs, procedures, and or policies in store operations.
• Assist with special projects that impact the success of the Company’s safety and health programs and compliance function.
• Manage a team that consists of remote and SSC associates.
• Responsible for CA Haz Waste program and its compliance.

5 - 7 years in Safety, Regulatory Compliance, Environmental Health; or equivalent combination of education and retail experience (store, distribution center, corporate levels)
