Job summary

Family Dollar in Columbia, SC is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support daily store operations, assist customers, and develop the store team. You will help with stock transfer, merchandising, and maintaining clean, organized sales floor areas while ensuring safe, friendly service.

The role focuses on opening/closing procedures, adherence to corporate directives, and loss prevention. It requires strong communication and leadership skills, plus the ability to manage payroll and scheduling

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs. and perform physical tasks

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns
• Assist in organizing and transferring merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom and sales floor
• Perform opening and closing procedures
• Process corporate directives and store communications
• Maintain promotional displays
• Assist in ordering merchandise and loss prevention
• Maintain clean, well-stocked store and stockroom
• Protect store assets including cash
• Adhere to safety policies and procedures
• Help Store Manager supervise and develop Store Associates
• Maintain a positive, safe environment for customers and staff
• Keep store clean, including bathrooms and floors
• Other duties as assigned
