Job summary

At Home in Mentor, OH is seeking an Assistant Store Manager - Operations to support the Store Manager in leading operational, financial, and team functions of a large-format store. This role drives store performance by ensuring efficient operations, strong execution standards, and an exceptional customer and Team Member experience.

The position leads Operations Leads and Zone Lead teams, develops staff, and focuses on safety, compliance, and everyday problem-solving to strengthen profitability

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant leadership experience in big-box/high-volume retail.
• Experience leading 20+ Team Members and managing at least $5M in annual revenue or budget.
• Knowledge of freight processes, inventory control, stocking, and merchandising.
• Proven customer-focused mindset with in-store experience.
• Strong integrity and reliability; ethical business practices.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
• Experience with HRIS and workforce scheduling systems.

Responsibilities

• Drive store operations to achieve sales, profit, and performance goals.
• Hire, develop, and build internal bench strength for long-term growth.
• Coach and develop staff, focusing on continuous improvement.
• Manage staffing, scheduling, and payroll accuracy to drive profitability.
• Plan and oversee operations including opening/closing and front-end processes.
• Direct freight, inventory, stocking, and merchandising to maintain in-stock conditions.
• Lead efforts in customer satisfaction, safety, loss prevention and cash handling.
• Address team and customer concerns promptly and professionally.
• Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and laws.
• Foster a positive, inclusive store culture and lead team communications.
