Job summary

Family Dollar is seeking an Assistant Store Manager in Morton, MS to help run daily store operations, deliver friendly customer service, and develop the store team. You will assist with opening/closing, merchandise flow, inventory, payroll and scheduling, and ensure compliance with company policies.

This role requires strong communication, reliability, and a hands-on leadership approach in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred and required to read and interpret operational directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor; maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional effectiveness of fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, payroll, scheduling, and cash handling.
• Keep store areas well-stocked and organized per company standards.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
• Adhere to safety policies and ensure associates follow procedures.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Ensure cleanliness and upkeep of the store, bathrooms, floors, and waste disposal.
