Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a motivated Cashier/Stocker to act as a lead in the absence of store management. You will unload shipments, stock and display merchandise, assist customers, and maintain a clean, secure store environment while following company procedures.

The role emphasizes keeping plan‑o‑grams up to date, providing exemplary service, and assisting in daily store operations to maximize profitability and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform basic math calculations and percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures, cashier accountability and deposits.
• Ability to operate IBM cash register functions.
• Knowledge of cash, facility and safety control policies.
• Effective interpersonal and oral & written communication skills.
• Understanding of safety policies and practices.
• Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance.

Responsibilities

• Unload trucks following store procedures.
• Receive and unpack cartons and totes.
• Stock and rotate merchandise on shelves; create displays.
• Restock returned merchandise.
• Place orders for zones and drop shipments as directed.
• Assist in plan-o-gram implementation and maintenance.
• Help customers locate merchandise and answer questions.
• Maintain store cleanliness and safety, including front end areas and restrooms.
• Operate register, total purchases, and bag items.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Follow SOPs and company policies.
