Job summary

Family Dollar in San Antonio, TX is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support daily store operations, deliver excellent customer service, and develop store associates. You will assist with merchandising, scheduling, cash handling, and loss prevention to maintain a well-run store.

The role requires strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills, with a focus on teamwork in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; ability to read and explain operational directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred.
• Physical ability to lift up to 55 lbs and perform frequent walking, standing and lifting.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Help organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor as needed.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives including Pull and Hold/Destroy and Task Compliance.
• Maintain promotional effectiveness of store-front fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, record keeping and loss prevention.
• Maintain store areas to company standards.
• Protect and secure all store assets, including cash.
• Adhere to policies and procedures and safety guidelines.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Ensure a positive, safe, and respectful environment for customers and staff.
• Maintain store cleanliness and organization.
• Other duties as assigned.
