Responsibilities

• Promote trust and respect among associates.
• Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated by answering questions regarding products in the department and store.
• Gain and maintain knowledge of products in the department and respond to questions and make recommendations.
• Recommend grocery items to customers to ensure they get what they want and inform them of savings.
• Check product quality to ensure freshness; review sell by dates and take action.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise; provide customers with fresh products.
• Report ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Display a positive attitude.
• Stay current with ads (present, future, seasonal and special).
• Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers; maintain temperature logs.
• Reinforce safety programs by following safety procedures and reporting unsafe conditions.
• Inspect equipment and report items in need of repair.
• Notify management of safety risks and incidents including theft or fraud.
