Responsibilities
- Responsible for learning Walgreens’ operations and ways of working to lead “one-box” (full store operations across front-end and pharmacy). Responsible for completing accelerated development track to Store Manager during the specified timeframe as outlined in the learning plan.
- Under the direction of the Store Manager, oversees the operation (front-end and pharmacy) of a Walgreens store.
- Supports store operations by shadowing or assisting the Store Manager in leading the store throughout the learning journey.
Training & Personal Development
- Complete rigorous, accelerated program including all certifications needed for the Store Manager role.
- Attend and complete classroom learning, online training, and on-the-job training. Fulfill assigned rotations and learning objectives by spending time in other stores as assigned.
- Follow individual development plans offered by the District Manager. Participate in one-on-one conversations with Store Manager and District Manager to ensure continuous professional growth and demonstrate readiness and proficiency in learning topics with the Director of Pharmacy and Retail operations.
- Seek self-development by monitoring own performance, setting high standards, and learning about retail, pharmacy, and management fields, including best practices.
- Learn and actively implement compliance SOPs across front-end and pharmacy. Gain knowledge of all computer and technology systems and software.
- Obtain pharmacy technician registration/licensure as required by state law and pursue PTCB certification if required.
Customer Experience
- Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance. Resolve complaints timely and answer questions to ensure positive experiences. Share customer service best practices.
- Monitor customer service, provide coaching, training, and develop improvement plans in both front-end and pharmacy. Empower team members to resolve customer issues effectively, aiming to exceed expectations and build loyalty.
- Support Store Manager in observing customer service trends, analyzing feedback, and improving service metrics.
Operations
- Shadow Store Manager, gain experience, and demonstrate proficiency in supervising store operations and team members, including shifts and task delegation. Support merchandising tasks and displays.
- Support store asset protection by monitoring loss prevention systems and ensuring price accuracy through reports and audits.
- Learn to analyze inventory trends, supervise inventory management, and ensure SOP adherence for receiving, pricing, and returning merchandise.
- Supervise operations, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, including sale of regulated products.
- Ensure safety and well-being of team members, utilizing Security Operations Center effectively.
- Maintain respectful relationships with coworkers and partners, and complete assigned tasks and special projects as needed.
Business Performance Management
- Learn to analyze financial and performance data to develop action plans for sales growth and cost control.
- Identify sales opportunities and develop strategies to enhance store and pharmacy performance.
- Review asset protection data and implement measures to reduce loss.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and 3 years retail management experience OR High School Diploma/GED and 5 years retail management experience.
- Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
- Willing to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and extended days.
- Willing to accept and transfer to Store Manager position and other Walgreens retail assets within the same area if offered.
