Big 5 Sporting Goods Corporation in Brea, CA is seeking a Management Trainee to begin a career in store leadership. This entry-level program lasts 6–18 months and provides a fast-paced training path under experienced mentors.

You will develop customer service, sales, merchandising, and leadership skills while assisting with openings/closes, training new associates, and ensuring compliance with company policies as you progress toward higher management roles.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must possess basic organizational and/or applicable math skills.
• Detail-oriented, reliable, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• High School diploma, GED, or High School Equivalency Exam.
• Flexible scheduling and successful completion of E-Verify requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service and assist customers throughout the store.
• Drive sales and promote add-on items.
• Answer phone calls and respond to customer inquiries.
• Direct oversight of footwear and advertising programs and other departments.
• Merchandising and compliance with company policies.
• Set promotional signage and maintain stockroom organization.
• Check and retrieve merchandise as needed and keep the floor stocked.
• Assist with store opening and closing procedures.
• Train newly hired associates and supervise sales staff.
• Oversee cashiers and sales teams to ensure smooth store operations.
• Monitor inventory and enforce loss prevention policies.
• Enforce all company policies and procedures.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
