Job description

Town Pump is looking for a motivated and outgoing Store Manager Trainee to join our team. Town Pump is a growing company, with increasing opportunities for career growth.

As a Store Manager Trainee, you will:

  1. Train with the store manager and/or co-manager to learn the overall operation of the store. Areas of training include, but are not limited to, making supervisory decisions consistent with Town Pump standards, policies, and procedures.
  2. Understand controllable expenses, sales increases, inside gross margins, shortage controls, and promotional programs.
  3. Set an exemplary example for co-workers in professionalism, attitude, and teamwork in customer service and Convenience Store Operations. Customer service includes communicating with customers and resolving complaints and inquiries.
  4. Serve as an acting store manager during the store manager’s absence (when the co-manager is not available).
  5. Complete daily bookwork using a computer to record employee information, inventory, and sales data.
  6. Order supplies and merchandise, inventory merchandise, invoice merchandise, and input daily sales. Perform merchandising tasks including receiving, pricing, stocking, displaying, and rotating inventories.
  7. Perform store maintenance and basic repairs, make bank deposits, and conduct light cleaning of the store and restrooms.
  8. Participate in hiring, training, and orienting new employees. Handle disciplinary actions and termination of problem employees.
  9. Maintain the security of all store assets, including control of cash, fuel, and inventories. Manage store merchandise and labor hours.
  10. Maintain a valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record and perform other duties as assigned by management.
