Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager to lead Clifton, NJ store operations, including staffing, training, and merchandising execution. You will drive daily sales through strong team leadership, inventory control, and compliance with policies and procedures.

You will also coach employees, manage cash handling and reporting, ensure a safe shopping environment, and maintain high standards of customer service and store presentation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of management experience in a retail environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, select and retain qualified employees according to laws and company policies; ensure store is properly staffed.
• Provide proper training for employees; conduct performance evaluations; identify gaps and counsel or terminate as needed.
• Make recommendations regarding employee pay rate and advancement.
• Communicate performance, conduct and safety expectations; coordinate meetings and events to enforce policies.
• Open and close the store as needed; ensure proper staffing for operating hours.
• Evaluate operating statements to identify trends, profitability, and inventory issues.
• Order and manage inventory to meet in-stock targets; review plans and cycle counts weekly.
• Facilitate staging, stocking and merchandising according to company processes.
• Ensure merchandise is presented with correct pricing and signage.
• Maintain accurate inventory through damages, markdowns and records; ensure cash handling integrity.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Maintain a clean, safe and welcoming store environment.
• Ensure tools and equipment are available to perform tasks.
• Follow SOPs and company policies; complete paperwork on time.
