Position Description

The Store Manager in Training (MIT) will receive comprehensive training to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to manage and oversee store operations in a convenience store environment. This position offers an excellent opportunity for growth and career advancement within the retail industry. The Store MIT will work closely with the Store Manager to gain hands-on experience in managing store operations, staff, inventory, and customer service, with the goal of eventually becoming a Store Manager.

Responsibilities
  • Training & Development: Participate in a structured training program focusing on leadership, customer service, inventory management, and operational procedures. Assist in supervising staff, ensuring store cleanliness, safety, and operational efficiency. Learn to manage daily store operations, including workflows, staff scheduling, product ordering, and quality control.
  • Store Operations: Ensure compliance with health codes and safety regulations. Assist in managing inventory, placing orders, receiving deliveries, and conducting stock counts. Participate in customer service training and create a welcoming environment.
  • Supervision & Training: Learn to schedule and supervise staff, manage labor costs, and train new employees on safety and store protocols. Assist in addressing employee issues and customer complaints professionally.
  • Administrative Responsibilities: Manage daily sales, inventory, and waste reports. Track safety compliance and costs. Assist in employee scheduling and ensure policy adherence.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Participate in safety training, emergency procedures, and proper handling of hazardous materials.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify operational improvements, analyze customer feedback, and work on increasing efficiency, reducing waste, and maximizing profitability.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in business is a plus.
  • Prior retail or customer service experience preferred; supervisory experience required.
  • Interest in retail management and willingness to develop skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid State Driver's License.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs., bend, squat, reach, climb ladders, and work in cold environments. Capable of handling cash, repetitive tasks, and emergency situations. Must work independently when required.
