Summary
The Assistant in Training (AIT) and Assistant Manager position’s primary responsibility is to fulfill our mission statement, “to create the most enjoyable shopping experience possible for our Guests.” Additionally, AIT and Assistant Managers perform a variety of sales, merchandising, and operational tasks assigned by store management (e.g., cashiering, merchandise display and pulls, register procedures, and routine cleaning of facilities). They work directly with the Store Manager and Leadership Team to develop sales, recruit new Teammates, and provide leadership. The AIT and Assistant Manager will also share responsibility for training and motivating Teammates and act as the Store Manager in their absence. The Assistant Manager position is a progression from the AIT position and includes additional high-level duties specific to that role, though most responsibilities are shared.

Sales Generation and Guest Service
- Greet Guests with a friendly, engaging attitude and provide legendary service.
- Answer questions regarding the store and merchandise confidently.
- Help Guests locate or obtain merchandise based on their needs and desires.
- Anticipate and fulfill Guest needs by suggesting additional items and creating a memorable shopping experience.
- Demonstrate product knowledge and share sales education with the team.
- Stay informed about current sales, promotions, policies, and security practices.
- Maintain personal sales goals and look for opportunities to improve team performance using the Sales Presentation Guide (SPG).
- Achieve sales goals set by Store Management.
- Provide excellent service across all store areas: Front 5, sales floor, fitting rooms, and register.
- Understand and communicate exchange and return procedures effectively.
- Use the SPG daily to meet or exceed sales targets.
- Expand Guest selection through inventory management tools and apps.
- Build and maintain strong Guest relationships to develop a client-based business.
- Lead by example with showmanship, customer service, and attentiveness.
- Recognize Guest levels and communicate with the team.
- Ask business-driven questions to Managers and Teammates to improve sales and service.
- Be coachable, welcoming feedback to improve sales presentations.
- Perform leadership actions consistently, regardless of Manager presence.
- Collaborate with Store Manager to set sales goals and own store’s sales performance.
- Show passion for product education and showmanship to drive results.
Teammate Recruiting, Training, and Development
- Recognize recruiting opportunities via various channels.
- Coach and develop new Teammates, ensuring they meet standards.
- Maintain a positive, motivating attitude to foster a positive store culture.
- Demonstrate and promote the latest fashion and store policies.
- Participate in daily training and reviews using the Performance Tracker.
- Motivate Teammates to complete daily tasks.
- Demonstrate and coach denim showmanship and fit techniques.
- Contribute to department results and track progress.
- Execute departmental actions and delegate effectively.
- Lead store segments and involve Guests with product.
- Maintain contact lists and recruit top talent.
- Support Store Manager in recruitment and onboarding efforts.
- Train and coach on all non-sales positions as needed.
Visual Merchandise Management
- Own product zones, recognizing and assigning tasks to Teammates.
- Implement new visual tools and standards.
- Delegate and review visual standards and zone execution.
- Identify merchandising opportunities and communicate improvements.
- Conduct store tours and ensure visual standards are met.
- Anticipate product lifecycle changes and adjust visual displays accordingly.
Operations
- Work flexible hours, including holidays and weekends.
- Utilize planning tools and checklists for opening/closing.
- Monitor security risks and prevent thefts.
- Follow POS and payment procedures accurately.
- Handle calls professionally and maintain a positive attitude in challenging situations.
- Adhere to policies regarding payments, returns, and loss prevention.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and shoppable store environment.
- Communicate concerns and policy violations promptly.
- Complete all HR and store-specific paperwork and tasks promptly.
- Coordinate with Corporate and support effective store operations.
- Manage inventory, markdowns, freight, and other store functions.
- Handle emergencies in the Store Manager’s absence per guidelines.
Supervisory and Leadership
- Provide and receive feedback professionally.
- Support leadership development and store growth.
- Maintain professional relationships with Teammates.
- Conduct interviews and support team development.
- Overcome objections and solve problems effectively.
- Self-educate on company tools and share knowledge.

- Travel within the district as needed.
- Handle schedule changes professionally.
- Perform job duties with high customer service standards and team spirit.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Assist the Store Manager in supervising the team.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED; 1-3 months retail experience or equivalent.
