Position Expectations

The Store Manager in Training is responsible for learning the role's aspects, assisting in store operations, including collections, processing, personnel management, financial performance, workforce development, and asset protection.

Responsibilities
  • Maximize sales performance through proper rotation, display, signage, and inventory management. Meet or exceed sales goals.
  • Oversee handling and processing of donations, processed goods, salvage, and waste.
  • Maximize used goods processing, including sorting, preparing, and pricing items for sale. Meet or exceed production goals.
  • Ensure quality customer service is provided promptly and courteously.
  • Manage clients and maintain store appearance, cleanliness, and safety.
  • Maintain operational equipment and facilities, including safety and security systems.
  • Manage store budget, including revenue generation and expense control.
  • Hire, train, and supervise store personnel, conduct performance evaluations, and ensure policy compliance.
Environmental Factors

Work will be conducted at various Goodwill locations with no climate control, exposure to extreme conditions, dust, animal hair, and humidity.

Physical Factors
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull at least 50 pounds.
  • Prolonged standing, walking, reaching, stooping, and bending.
Education, Experience, and Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED preferred; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • At least 6 years retail experience, with 3 years supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience in goal setting, tracking, salvage audits, and profit/loss management preferred.
  • Ability to travel and transfer between stores as needed.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; bilingual a plus.
  • High integrity, adaptability, and flexibility required.
