Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in daily operations, staffing, inventory, merchandising, and store compliance. You will help recruit, train, schedule staff, and ensure exceptional customer service while safeguarding assets and executing store directives.

This role develops external candidates toward a Store Manager career, working in a fast-paced environment with strict cash controls, open/close duties, and adherence to policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising by stocking and displaying merchandise according to established practices.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management including damages, markdowns, scans, paperwork and controls.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet or exceed in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Act as a role model by following company procedures and policies.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure safe deposit of all company funds in designated bank.
• Assist in maintaining financial integrity through cashier accountability and cash handling procedures.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and safe environment for customers and employees.
• Operate store in the manager’s absence.
• Review operating statements to identify trends and opportunities.
