Store Manager Responsibilities

The Store Manager is responsible for all facets of store operations and directly influences the performance of everyone who interacts with guests. Using elements of GameStop's buy, sell, trade, and reservation business model, the Store Manager develops and promotes a sales culture by creating individualized and complete solutions for every guest, and providing outstanding guest service experiences through professional conduct and shared passion for gaming. They support the overall store environment to meet/exceed sales and profit goals, ensure products are visible and accessible, build sales through product and gaming knowledge, maintain a clean and organized environment, and grow guest loyalty and repeat business. The Store Manager supervises a retail staff, which may vary based on store size, location, and sales volume.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Manage and lead in a multiunit capacity.
  2. Provide and model best-in-class guest service, including greeting guests, responding to questions, assisting with gaming needs, informing about promotions, recommending items, and ensuring a positive shopping experience.
  3. Support the shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, sales initiatives, and guest relationships.
  4. Accurately process transactions using POS system, including making change, providing receipts, and ensuring top guest service.
  5. Respond to guest comments/questions in person or on the phone, using professional phone etiquette.
  6. Promote GameStop’s guest benefits, such as reservations, trade-in, and loyalty programs.
  7. Recruit, interview, hire, assess, develop, and retain high-performing staff.
  8. Ensure staff completion of onboarding and training before shifts, covering policies, inventory control, loss prevention, safety, and ethics.
  9. Communicate regularly with staff and District Manager to implement initiatives; set and train on guest service expectations.
  10. Schedule staff, ensuring adequate coverage and adherence to guidelines, and supervise staffing levels.
  11. Approve payroll, manage paid time off, and verify accurate payment for staff.
  12. Recognize and provide feedback to staff, maintaining records in HR systems.
  13. Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and proper functioning of fixtures and equipment.
  14. Fulfill and ship Omni-Channel orders daily.
  15. Conduct inventory counts, restock merchandise, and organize the sales floor.
  16. Protect assets through inventory control and loss prevention, including safety and scam awareness.
  17. Lead sales and profit initiatives, and complete administrative duties.
  18. Reconcile daily transactions, complete closeout paperwork, and manage cash deposits.
  19. Verify shipments, record discrepancies, and conduct inventories.
  20. Process defectives and recalls accurately.
  21. Ensure safety protocols are followed and report injuries promptly.
  22. Keep store records organized and up to date.
  23. Build professional relationships with military personnel if applicable.
  24. Adhere to all company policies, including the Code of Standards and Ethics.
Qualifications
  • Proof of identity and legal work eligibility in the U.S.
  • Minimum 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; degree in business or related field preferred.
  • At least 1 year of retail management experience.
  • 3 years of retail sales or leadership experience preferred.
  • Video game knowledge is a plus.

  • Excellent communication skills, bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.

  • Adaptability in a fast-paced environment and ability to manage stress.
  • Reliable, trustworthy, and good judgment.
  • Physical ability to stand, move, and lift up to 30 lbs. throughout shifts.
  • Understanding of military ranks if applicable.
