Overall Job Summary

The Manager Trainee is responsible for learning the duties of the Store Manager position and developing the skills required for a Store Manager role. Primary duties include delivering a Legendary Customer Experience, building the team, driving sales, managing inventory, managing profit and sales, expense control, reducing and managing shrink.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)

As a Manager Trainee, you will observe and learn the following duties and skills required for a Store Manager role:

• Recruiting, hiring, developing, evaluating, disciplining, and retaining efficient team members.
• Delivering Legendary Customer Service through GURA: Greet, Uncover Needs & Wants, Recommend Solutions, Add Value & Appreciate.
• Creating a welcoming environment that promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion, ensuring team members mirror the communities served.
• Scheduling, organizing, and planning daily activities for team efficiency.
• Leading team members to ensure a Legendary shopping experience.
• Communicating policies, evaluating processes, and coordinating with management to improve operations.
• Creating a positive work environment through recognition and empowerment.
• Problem solving and conflict resolution.
• Learning sales and profit management to achieve financial goals.
• Promoting a safe and productive environment.
• Managing merchandise flow and inventory controls.
• Organizing merchandise resets and maintaining presentation standards.
• Evaluating the competitive environment and collaborating with teams to ensure quality and performance.
• Handling paperwork such as invoices, schedules, product orders, and reports.
• Managing inventory needs and working with supply chain partners.
• Coordinating and conducting sales events and supporting district operations.
• Developing team members for advancement and addressing issues with HR support.
• Training on budgeting, sales forecasting, and store auditing.

Required Qualifications

Experience in retail, farming, ranching, pet/equine, or welding is preferred. Supervisory experience is a plus. Must be at least 18 years old with a valid driver’s license.

Educational background preferred: High school diploma or Bachelor’s in Agricultural Science or Business. Equivalent experience considered.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities

• Valid driver’s license for company driving.
• Ability to process information and merchandise using POS systems.
• Proficiency in reading, writing, and counting for documentation.
• Access to all store areas and operation of store equipment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work varied hours including weekends and peak seasons.
• Willingness to travel between store locations and to company events.

Working Conditions

Standard office environment with physical activities including standing, walking, kneeling, reaching, and driving.

Physical Requirements

• Standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, reaching overhead, driving, lifting up to 50 lbs.
