Overall Job Summary
The Manager Trainee is responsible for learning the duties of the Store Manager position and developing the skills required for a Store Manager role. Primary duties include delivering a Legendary Customer Experience, building the team, driving sales, managing inventory, profit, and sales, controlling expenses, and reducing shrink.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Recruit, hire, develop, evaluate, discipline, and retain efficient team members.
- Deliver Legendary Customer Service through GURA: Greet, Uncover needs, Recommend solutions, Add value, and Appreciate the customer.
- Create a welcoming environment promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and a sense of belonging.
- Schedule and organize daily activities for store efficiency.
- Lead team to ensure a memorable shopping experience.
- Communicate policies and evaluate processes for effectiveness.
- Foster a positive work environment through promotions, recognition, and empowerment.
- Handle problem-solving and conflict resolution.
- Learn sales and profit management to achieve financial goals.
- Promote safety and manage merchandise flow and inventory controls.
- Organize merchandise resets and ensure presentation standards.
- Evaluate the competitive environment and coordinate with teams to ensure quality.
- Manage paperwork, including invoices, schedules, and reports.
- Forecast sales, analyze payroll, and review budgets.
- Coordinate special sales events and support district issues.
- Develop team members for advancement.
- Assist with budgeting and store audits.
Minimum Qualifications
Retail or farming, ranching, pet/equine, or welding experience preferred. Supervisory experience is a plus. Must be at least 18 with a valid driver’s license.
Preferred Skills and Abilities
- Valid driver’s license for company driving.
- Proficiency with POS and inventory systems.
- Ability to read, write, count, and operate store equipment.
- Willingness to work varied hours, including weekends, and travel as needed.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
- Standard office conditions.
- Ability to stand, walk, kneel, reach, and lift up to 50 lbs.
