Overall Job Summary

The Manager Trainee is responsible for learning the duties of the Store Manager position and developing the skills required for a Store Manager role. Primary duties include delivering a Legendary Customer Experience, building the team, driving sales, managing inventory, managing profit and sales, expense control, reducing and managing shrink.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)

As a Manager Trainee, you will observe and learn the following duties and skills required for a Store Manager role:

  1. Recruiting, hiring, developing, evaluating, disciplining, and retaining efficient team members.
  2. Delivering Legendary Customer Service through GURA: Greet the Customer, Uncover Needs & Wants, Recommend Solutions, Add Value & Appreciate.
  3. Creating a welcoming environment promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  4. Scheduling, organizing, and planning daily activities for store efficiency.
  5. Leading team members to ensure a Legendary shopping experience.
  6. Communicating company policies and evaluating processes for effectiveness.
  7. Fostering a positive work environment through recognition and empowerment.
  8. Problem solving and conflict resolution.
  9. Learning sales and profit management, and achieving financial goals.
  10. Promoting safety and managing merchandise flow and inventory controls.
  11. Organizing merchandise resets and maintaining presentation standards.
  12. Evaluating competitive environment and collaborating with teams to ensure quality and performance.
  13. Handling paperwork, including invoices, schedules, and reports; training on sales forecasting, payroll, and evaluations.
  14. Managing inventory needs and coordinating with supply chain teams.
  15. Supporting special projects and community involvement initiatives.
  16. Building team relations and addressing issues with HR support.
  17. Participating in budgeting and auditing processes.
Required Qualifications

Experience in retail or related fields preferred; supervisory experience is a plus. Must be at least 18 years old with a valid driver’s license. Education: High school diploma required; Bachelor’s in Agricultural-Science or Business preferred.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities
  • Valid driver’s license for company business.
  • Proficiency with POS systems and documentation.
  • Ability to access all store areas and operate necessary equipment.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work varied hours including weekends.
  • Willingness to travel to other locations and participate in company functions.
Working Conditions

Standard office environment.

  • Standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, reaching overhead, driving, lifting.
