Base pay range

$68,640.00/yr - $75,000.00/yr

Job Purpose

The mission of Hope the Mission is to prevent, reduce, and eliminate poverty, hunger, and homelessness by offering immediate assistance and long-term solutions. Our mission is to meet our participants' needs through an individualized and non-judgmental approach that will ultimately lead to long-term housing stability.

The Thrift Store Manager position involves assisting in the maintenance of Thrift Store Operations, under the supervision of the Retail Director/COO. Responsibilities include merchandising, marketing, hiring, supervising, scheduling, sales, and training. As the primary contact, this role requires initiative, self-monitoring, and the ability to maintain positive relationships with staff, volunteers, donors, and the community.

Responsibilities
  1. Communicate regularly with Retail Director/COO about store issues.
  2. Handle work-related phone calls and emails during scheduled times.
  3. Assist with merchandising, sorting, pricing, and inventory control.
  4. Manage daily cash handling, credit transactions, and bookkeeping, including night drop deposits.
  5. Maintain effective staffing schedules within budget constraints.
  6. Engage customers to increase donations and sales to meet revenue goals.
  7. Provide excellent customer service and respond to inquiries and complaints.
  8. Promote repeat business and positive word-of-mouth advertising.
  9. Control costs and ensure store expenses stay within budget.
  10. Assist with donation processing, forms, and scheduling pickups.
  11. Ensure staff and volunteers are trained in store procedures.
  12. Maintain store cleanliness and attractive displays.
  13. Enforce safety, health, and security policies.
  14. May operate a company vehicle for store business.
Qualifications
  1. Minimum 3 years retail experience including cash handling.
  2. At least 2 years managing a store or department.
  3. Valid driver’s license, clean DMV record, and ability to be added to auto insurance.
  4. High School Diploma or GED.
  5. Ability to follow directions and work independently.
  6. Physical ability to move merchandise and perform related tasks.
  7. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  8. Detail-oriented with multitasking and flexibility skills.
  9. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  10. Demonstrate integrity, work ethic, and goal orientation.
  11. Reliable attendance and performance.
  12. Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  13. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  14. Respectful and kind demeanor at all times.
  15. Willingness to work some weekends and evenings.
Working Conditions

Typical warehouse/retail environment.

Physical Requirements

Must meet physical demands such as walking, climbing stairs, standing, bending, lifting up to 40 lbs, and operating equipment. Able to communicate effectively, drive, and work in various environmental conditions. Accommodations available for disabilities.

Work Environment

Contact with individuals in crisis, possibly under the influence, and in various states of hygiene. Ability to respond quickly to crises and stressful situations. Moderate noise level; potential stress under pressure.
