Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate in Alabama to support the Store Manager with staffing, inventory, merchandising, and daily store operations. The role emphasizes developing internal candidates for the Store Manager position and is held for a limited period.

The candidate will assist in recruiting, manage inventory, ensure in-stock performance, and uphold cash controls and security practices while delivering strong customer service and team leadership.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is strongly preferred.
• Two or more years of experience in a leadership or managerial position.
• Two or more years of experience in a retail grocery store strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assists with store merchandising by facilitating staging, stocking and storage of merchandise according to established practices and store manager direction.
• Assists in all aspects of inventory management and prepares inventories.
• Follows prescribed ordering practices to meet or exceed in-stock targets.
• Provides superior customer service leadership.
• Acts as a role model by following company procedures and policies.
• Participates in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensures the safe deposit of all company funds in the designated bank.
• Assists in ensuring financial integrity through cashier accountability and cash control procedures.
• Maintains a clean, well-stocked store and a safe environment for customers and employees.
• Operates store in store manager’s absence.
• Reviews operating statements to identify trends and opportunities.
• Completes all paperwork and documentation per guidelines and deadlines.
