Job summary

Dollar General is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to uphold a clean, customer-first store environment under the Store Manager's direction. You will supervise staff, manage merchandise presentation, complete paperwork, reconcile deposits and protect company assets.

Your role includes supervising employees, coordinating scheduling, training, and safety meetings, while ensuring adherence to policy. This position requires strong communication and cash handling capabilities.

Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication are required.
• Ability to solve problems and handle diverse situations.
• Good organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, procedures and manuals.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Experience with cash registers and reporting.
• Knowledge of cash handling policies and deposit control.
• Must be able to drive to the bank to deposit money.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service leadership at the register and on the floor.
• Open and close the store at least two days per week.
• Assist Store Manager with scheduling, training, safety meetings and policy compliance.
• Manage merchandise through receiving, stocking, displays and planograms.
• Maintain accurate inventory, reduce damages and manage markdowns.
• Support cash handling, refunds, overrides, and cash deposits.
• Assist in store operations in the Store Manager's absence.
