Job summary

Dollar General stores seek a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in supervising staff, stocking, inventory management, and daily store operations. The role fosters hands-on development of external candidates for the Store Manager position and is limited in duration.

Responsibilities include recruiting, merchandising, maintaining in-stock levels, cashier controls, and ensuring clean, secure stores with safe environments for customers and employees. Some travel may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Ability to supervise staff and manage store operations.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and deposit controls.
• Certain store locations may prefer bilingual Spanish speakers.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising by staging, stocking and pricing merchandise.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management and proper documentation.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to maintain in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Open and close the store as needed.
• Review operating statements to identify trends and opportunities.
• Complete all paperwork and documentation on time.
