Job summary

Family Dollar in Irving, TX is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service, and team development. The role involves assisting with daily store functions, helping customers, and ensuring merchandise moves smoothly from delivery to sales floor.

You will participate in opening and closing procedures, follow corporate directives, maintain displays, supervise and train staff, and uphold safety and integrity.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical duties.
• Strong communication and written skills required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.
• Exceptional customer service and organizational skills required.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor; maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and related communications.
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, record keeping (payroll, scheduling, cash deposits and receipts), and loss prevention.
• Maintain stocked, neat store areas per company standards.
• Protect and secure all company assets including store cash.
• Adhere to safety policies and ensure staff compliance.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Maintain a positive, safe, respectful environment with customers, associates, and leaders.
• Keep bathrooms and store areas clean; restock as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
